"'As above, so below' doubtless enshrines some vast idea of analogical law, some basis of True Reason, which would sum up the manifold appearances of things into one single verity; but the understanding of the nature of this mystery of manifoldness from the one - all one and one in all - is not to be attained by careless thinking, or by some lucky guess, or by the pastime of artificial correspondencing... But though the most intimate union of sense and reason, who must ever go together, for ever giving birth to the True Man, who, at the same time, is their common source."
~GRS Mead
Intentionally speaking this language by design is called resemblance or
sometimes “calculated resonation”. The purpose is to elicit the same harmony
– the same sustainability and synchronicity – inherent in natural models.
Essentially, intentional and precisely rendered allegory, reflection, symbolism, mimicry, etc., is real. Here real implies effective meaning that we can use resemblance to produce predictable and tangible results – even if as an undercurrent – to the function of our forms.
If we seek that which is Above, than Above is precisely what we must come to embody.
Through the most intimate union of sense and reason we can intuit the analogical law which relates all “parts” to the greater “whole” that is their Source, until the manifold appearances are reduced back to the same ONE Thing. This pertains not to artificial correspondence but to the prefigured vibrational patterns of the intangible spheres of existence above us.
The all-important cornerstone of Awakened living, “As Above so is below,” is embodied in the assertion that the microcosm is rendered in the image of the macrocosm (or that the Human stands in reflection of the Divine), and extends through the tradition that what is inside of us is reflected externally. It suggests that Human activity parallels the activity of the Divine Universe, and imparts that all things have their birth from ONE through varying degrees of adaptation. We can see it demonstrated with our physical eyes and rational mind. The entire natural world reflects similar patterns, structures, and designs. Life itself is seemingly unfolded out of a sacred geometry, which then becomes a sort of organic, cosmic language we can also speak through our own conscious creations.
