“Truth is ONE, though the sages know it variously.”
~ Rig Veda
Humanity has experienced so many unfortunate losses in an attempt to declare a victor in the title bout for the world’s “one, true religion”. Sometimes it would seem that people tend to care more about declaring the solitary truth of their own experience with religion than they care about practicing the tenets of their religion itself.
People forget that religions are perspective based. Over time they are inevitably misinterpreted through filters of selfishness and pride and infused with false notions of individualization and separation. We say “false notions” here not only in implication of the inherent ONENESS of All Life, but because the heart of all religious mysticism is a state of union with the Divine. The mystic core of every religion suggests this ONENESS and trespasses into falsehood the moment it suggests that the one, true path is anything less than all paths combined.
Thus it is that Wisdom Traditions teach of a “Universal Religion”, the basis of which is not conversion to one faith, belief, or creed, but acceptance of the Divine Unity inherent in our diversity. Every personal truth is a pathway to the same ONE Truth and goal.
This isn’t tolerance of another’s point of view but recognition of Divinity’s magnitude. It suggests that the Divine can be perceived and symbolized at various levels of understanding and manifests with different appearances relative to different points of perspective. Indeed, it speaks of the Divine as All-Pervading.
Within the idea of the Universal Religion it is the individual’s prerogative how the “particulars” are received, construed, and applied. The important thing is then nonattachment to the particulars you happen to apply, for the multiplicity of faiths are simply various expressions of the same ONE Thing. To fully embrace universality, broadness of vision is requisite as is a certain catholicity of ideas.
To collectively express Humanity’s spiritual component is powerful for it conveys that very thing which collects us together. An entire community, passionate in their faith, can move mountains even if that faith wears a multitude of images and names. Instead of privatizing and individualizing our spiritual experiences – or containing them to a certain hour, room, or company of others who share in our particulars – our intentional solutions can honor the universality of Religion by consciously choosing to focus on synthesis and harmonious correlation. By design our collective spiritual expression can suit the inclination and aptitude of our community as a Whole. Through awareness we can believe in accord with our personal preference while sharing in a powerful collective passion and reverence for the Divine.
We are spiritual beings enjoying the Human experience. Yet the spiritual component is largely sleeping within our present culture. The concept of the “New Culture” therefore symbolizes a culture of Awakening.
In the cycles of existence there is much to suggest that we stand upon a noteworthy threshold; a time of great change. It has become undeniable that there is a mounting global expectation of impending alterations to the world stage.
For us Humanity’s transformation implies a rethinking of the consumption-driven industrialized extreme. The time has come for a revival of more pastoral lifestyles infused with the beauty of a rich spiritual culture. The time has come for the conscious refinement of our existence. The time has come to purposefully open our eyes.
Do we want to eke out a survival or do we want to thrive? Imagine habitats intelligently rejoined to Nature, the sharing and stewarding of locally cultivated goods and services, and a lifestyle intentionally enriched with dynamic artifacts of inspiration and aspiration. Such will have far more to offer constituents in terms of their quality of life, true liberty, and potential. To awaken excellence we must engage the world around us at a certain level of Awareness.
“Religious forms may change; the innermost principles do not.
And these principles would apply to you the same
no matter your location in Space and Time.
For, in Truth there is only ONE religion, the Universal Religion.
And each manifestation of the Universal religion on Earth is as
a dissolving pearl of wisdom, strung along the everlasting golden thread of Divinity.
The revelation is complete for a moment, as it is received.
Then, as the form dissolves, it passes its ecumenical principles to the form which follows.
This is the Way.”

“It is necessary to know that Humanity lives with its consciousness asleep. People work asleep.
People walk through the streets asleep. People live and die asleep. Only when we come to the conclusions that the entire world lives asleep, can we comprehend the necessity of Awakening.”
Samael Aun Weor
